Best Rainbow Six Siege Operators ranked for 2025: Who should you use?

Rainbow Six Siege has been around for almost ten years. In that time, its roster of Operators has grown to a whopping 76, belonging to 37 different Counter Terrorist Units (CTUs). This shows how far the game has come from its initial 21 Operators back in 2015, and the meta has constantly shifted since its release.

The Rainbow Six Siege X update launch has ensured that Ubisoft will continue to support R6, meaning that the meta shifting is going to stop anytime soon. Still, some Operators remain stalwart in many R6 tier lists despite all the changes, and the very best are being considered here.

When looking at the best R6 Operators, two main attributes need to be taken into account: an operator’s weaponry and their abilities. Some thrive off a particularly powerful gun, while others are heavily reliant on their unmatched abilities. A select few benefit from both.

Their effectiveness as either an Attacker or Defender needs to be taken into account, too. While only ten are being considered for this list, it should be noted that over twenty out of all R6 Operators are top-tier. Looking beyond these

Tubarão is a Defender with a solid loadout of effective weaponry, but his real magic comes from his Zoto Canister. Its ability to freeze electronics and slow enemies makes it a perfect counter to hard breach charges and intel gathering R6 Operators, like Dokkaebi.

The Zoto Canister can also cause opponents to leave footsteps behind, gathering intel while denying opponents theirs. Pair this with decent weaponry, and Tubarão becomes a bit of a sleeper pick for one of the best Rainbow Six Siege Defenders.

Melusi is another of the R6 Operators who benefit from a powerful, unique ability. Like Tubarão, Melusi is a Defender who can slow foes with her Banshee Sonic Defense. This also causes chaos for Attackers with its ability to gather information, and while the Banshees often get targeted, Melusi has four of them.

Pair the Banshees with Melusi’s effective shotguns, and it makes this Defender one of best R6 Siege Operators around. She can often lead to free kills with her Banshees, given how important information gathering is in R6 Siege.

Deimos is an Attacker that rewards aggressive play, and his Deathmark Tracker gives precise, guaranteed information. This makes him perfect for countering roamers that are often off-site, making it easier for his team to isolate them.

Along with the precise information of his Deathmark Tracker, Deimos’ secondary is probably far better than it should be. The .44 Vendetta has high damage and no recoil, making him deadly in a 1v1, but if a team coordinates around his tracking, it will be a tough day for his opponents. 

Kaid may be slow, but his high health and breach denial make him a very effective Defender. His Electroclaw is the only ability that can electrify both reinforced walls and hatches. They can be placed in hard-to-put areas, which are tough for EMPs to get to.

Outside of the Electroclaw and a strong set of weapons, Kaid also brings a host of versatile gadgets, from barbed wire, slowing foes, to impact grenades. When it comes to being an effective and versatile breach-denial Defender, not many in Rainbow Six Siege do it better than Kaid.

Smoke has great weapons at his disposal. His shotgun primary and SMG secondary are a deadly combo, but his unique ability, the Remote Gas Grenade, is what still makes him so effective. It might not be what it once was, but it is still dangerous nonetheless.

The Gas Grenades deny large areas, slow foes, and deal damage over time. This makes it the perfect time-wasting tool, preventing enemies from planting the defuser, and that’s without mentioning his versatile kit of secondary gadgets.

Fenrir does his namesake proud by being one of the best R6 Operators around. He’s a Defender that’s all about blinding Attackers with F-NATT Dread Mines while providing sight with his bullet-proof cameras.

His play style allows for flexibility, since players can be passive with Fenrir by placing mines and roaming away, or be aggressive by actively blocking off parts of the map. His weaponry makes him effective in a gunfight, and he isn’t easy to counter because of his mines, although they can now be destroyed.

Azami may not have the most powerful gun loadout in Rainbow Six Siege, but what makes her so effective is her sheer versatility. She is amazing at creating defensive cover using her Kiba Barriers, blocking off areas to give her incredible map control.

With her Kiba Barriers comes the ability to make versatile setups, and it seems like there are infinite ways to use them. More importantly, if an enemy team wants to counter Azami, they have to spend significant utility and resources to deal with her. 

Dokkaebi’s Logic Bomb is perhaps the most effective information-gathering tool in all of Rainbow Six Siege. With the click of a button, she can reveal the location of all Defenders, making their phones ring and disabling their cameras.

She can also hack cameras from dead Defenders, giving out even more intel. The sheer amount of intel she can provide while also denying her enemies the same information is incredible, and that’s without mentioning how effective her weaponry can be, predominantly her MK14, with its high damage and low recoil.  

Like his name suggests, Mute exists to deny. His Signal Disruptors provide exceptional utility denial and counter hard breaches, and can be used to control doorways. He can essentially blind his enemies by denying them information and forcing them to expend their utility tools or risk losing their drones.

He counters hard-breachers like Dokkaebi, Lion, and Ash, and can jam Nomad Airjabs, Claymores, and Sen’s ROU device. He is all about denial and forcing the enemy to go in blind, making him one of Rainbow Six Siege’s top Defender Operators.

Ace isn’t just the first alphabetically, he’s also our number one out of all R6 Operators, simply because of how easily he can rip through enemies and how relatively easy he is to pick up. He’s a Defender’s nightmare and an Attacker’s dream.

Ace can breach from afar with his S.E.L.M.A charges and is flexible with how he can breach walls, whether making vaultable holes or smaller ones for peeking through and destroying enemy gadgets. He also has one of the best assault rifles in the game, and his claymores give him area denial on top of all his breaching capabilities.

While these are our 10 best R6 Operators, these aren’t the only effective ones. Note that many can be countered, and the best choice depends on a team’s composition, who you’re up against, and ultimately, who you enjoy playing most. 

A large chunk of the 76 Operators are more than viable in the current meta, and not all are the best in every situation. Mindlessly following who’s the best in general may not be conducive to an enjoyable Rainbow Six Siege experience, especially because there is no official meta data, so play the operator you prefer.
