Marvel Rivals has announced that the December PlayStation Cup will feature a boosted prize pool for players to earn.
The competition now offers 12,000 units (~$120/£95), Marvel Rivals’ in-game currency, for each group, alongside additional rewards for the top teams.
Registration for the competition will run from December 1st to 27th, 2025, with the Quarterfinals and Grand Finals taking place on the final day. The competition is open to all PlayStation players in the Americas, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), and the Pacific regions.
The last day will feature a double-elimination bracket between eight teams per group. The winning squads will not only take home 800 units (~$7.99/£6.39) per player, previously 300 (~$3/£2.40), but will also earn exclusive faction trophies and titles.
The December challenge will be the final competition held for the PlayStation Cup, and the last official tournament for Marvel Rivals before 2026.
What is the PlayStation Cup?
As the name implies, the PlayStation Cup is an open-bracket monthly tournament available exclusively to the PlayStation platform. Introduced earlier this year, players sign up to factions of similar rank and compete to become the top PlayStation team of the month.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to enter the Marvel Rivals PlayStation Cups:
- Launch Marvel Rivals on your PS5
- Navigate to the “Tournaments” tab at the top of your screen
- Select “Marvel Rivals PlayStation Cups”
- Select your region
- Now you’re ready to queue up in the PlayStation Cup and compete!
Solo queuing is not possible for the PlayStation Cup. The blog post by PlayStation also states that all players within a squad must be 16 years or older upon the registration deadline. There is a full list of rules available online for further details.
The PlayStation Cup wraps up the first competitive year for Marvel Rivals, a game that has held a variety of LAN and online tournaments. From the $3m (~£2.3m) Ignite series that culminated in the Grand Finals in DreamHack Atlanta, to the open bracket Seasonal Championships, only time will tell whether 2026 will expand the game’s esports horizons.
