Who is Elsa Bloodstone? A look at the next teased Marvel Rivals hero

At the time of writing, we are in the midst of Season 5.5 of Marvel Rivals. Season 6 is due to begin on January 16, 2026. Deadpool is the new prominent hero coming to the game, but the Season 6 trailer and the recent reveal of new key art for the game also showed another character who will be coming in Season 6: Elsa Bloodstone. 

We’re going to dive deeper into the lore of Elsa Bloodstone in Marvel, as well as what her role could be in Marvel Rivals when she becomes a playable character. 

In the broad universe of Marvel, Elsa Bloodstone is a monster hunter and the daughter of the acclaimed mercenary and fellow monster hunter Ulysses Bloodstone. She was first introduced in Marvel Comics through the Bloodstone mini-series, which ran from December 2001 to March 2002. 

Elsa is an empowered human who has demonstrated a range of different abilities in her appearances. Some of Elsa Bloodstone’s powers from the comics include super speed, enhanced endurance and durability, and superhuman strength. Elsa is also immune to vampire bites and has a regenerative healing factor. Her powers are inherited from her father, but she also gets them from the Bloodgem fragment that she wears around her neck on a choker. Elsa can also use certain magical artefacts, including Mordred’s Causeway, which allows for portal-based teleportation. 

Elsa has wielded a vast array of weapons over the years, including various firearms, such as shotguns and Uzis. She is particularly skilled as a marksman, but she is also well-versed in martial arts. Elsa has also been part of several superhero teams in the past, including the Fearless Defenders, the Midnight Sons, Doctor Doom’s Avengers, the Legion of Monsters, A-Force, and Nextwave. 

Although she hasn’t got any hugely significant individual connections, Elsa does have some links to other heroes. Her introduction in Marvel Rivals seems to be focused on her connection to Deadpool (as suggested in the Season 6 trailer above), but she also has ties to Jeff the Land Shark and Jack Russell, also known as the Werewolf by Night. 

Elsa Bloodstone and Blade also have a connection, as they are both in the business of monster-hunting. The two were also merged into one character called Elsa Bladestone in the Warp World storyline from the comics. The character also appeared in the Disney+ special Werewolf by Night, with actress Laura Donnelly playing Elsa Bloodstone in the MCU. 

At the time of writing, nothing has been officially confirmed regarding Elsa Bloodstone’s Marvel Rivals role. All we know is that she will likely be a hero in Season 6 or Season 6.5. She was revealed in the Season 6 trailer, where she is seen fighting her rival Deadpool. She was also featured in the new key art for the game, confirming that she will arrive next season. 

Despite no official information confirmed regarding what her role will be, there is plenty of speculation to be done when it comes to Elsa Bloodstone in Marvel Rivals Season 6. The most obvious choice for her would be a Duelist, like her fellow monster hunter Blade. Duelists are basically DPS heroes, while Vanguards are tank-like characters, and Strategists provide support skills, such as healing and buffs. 

Elsa is known for her marksmanship and prowess with weapons, so it would make sense for her to be a gun-toting hero. She is also seen brandishing guns in the key art and firing at Deadpool with a long-range rifle in the Season 6 trailer. 

That being said, some heroes in Marvel Rivals have defied expectations in their roles. Ultron is a good example of this. In Marvel lore, Ultron is a villainous robot known for his attempts to destroy humanity in order to bring peace to the world, ultimately developing a god complex in the process. He has various weapons at his disposal and is particularly agile, as he can fly. 

In Marvel Rivals, Ultron is a flying Strategist who can heal and support his team. He is a bit of a hybrid of sorts due to his damage skills, but his primary role is healing. This was a unique role choice for Ultron, but it works pretty well with the character. The same situation could happen with Elsa Bloodstone, though it’s hard to see her as anything other than a Duelist due to her dual weapons, which are reminiscent of Blade’s sword and shotgun combo or The Punisher’s interchangeable firearms.

However, there is a chance that Elsa could be a hybrid hero – in the same nature as Ultron – with skills that lend themselves to different roles in a match. If so, it would be interesting to see if Elsa gets tank-like Vanguard abilities to accompany her Duelist skills or more supportive Strategist skills similar to Ultron. 

That’s all we know so far about Elsa Bloodstone and what her role in Marvel Rivals might be when she is released as a playable hero in the game. Elsa is a somewhat obscure choice of a character, especially compared to the likes of current renowned Marvel heroes, such as Thor, Hulk, Scarlet Witch, or Black Widow. That being said, there are also plenty of out-there Marvel characters that have been successfully included in the game, such as Squirrel Girl and Jeff The Land Shark. Marvel Rivals is particularly good at integrating characters from across the Marvel universe, so Elsa Bloodstone will probably fit right in with the eclectic cast.
