Best mages in MLBB: 10 heroes to put a spell on enemies

Mages in MLBB are the primary source of magic damage. More often than not, they are also the only magic damage source in a typical team. Despite having devastating abilities, mages are fragile and need help from a roam or a tank to survive team fights. 

Mages in MLBB play a critical role in a team, dealing burst damage. Unlike assassins that usually need to be up close to deal damage, mages can stay far away and still do well. Combine a mage with a good fighter or roam, and you can wipe out whole teams with just one mage. 

A good mage knows when to use spells, especially their ultimate. Use the ultimate too early, and you’ll be left with basic abilities during a team fight. Of course, that depends on the mage, the ability cooldowns, and magic power. Knowing when to engage and spam your skills is half the game. In high ranks, the best mages in MLBB tend to stay behind their fighters or tanks to avoid getting ganked. 

Mages usually go to the mid lane in MLBB. While some mages like Alice or Zhask can do well in the EXP lane, most mages are better suited for the mid lane. Building a full damage mage is exciting; it allows you to dish out a ton of damage, but high rank mage players make at least one defensive item. 

Some mages are built to spam skills like Cecilion or Cyclops. At the same time, others have long cooldowns on their ultimates. Some mages have single-target abilities, while some in MLBB specialise in AOE damage. Similarly, some characters require manual aiming, while others can auto-target. Kadita is not an easy mage to handle, especially if you are just starting. However, once you know how to land her combos, she becomes a powerful being on the battlefield. She is one of the best mages in MLBB thanks to her exceptionally high burst damage and incredible mobility. She also becomes immune to crown control, letting her escape easily. 

Yve came out of nowhere and started dominating the charts thanks to her recent revamp. Her ability to control a large area of the battlefield is unmatched. She can consistently damage enemies with a good ranged poking ability. Her first ability has a super short cooldown and can be spammed to harass the enemy mid laner. 

If you love to spam skills, then Cyclops is the best mage in MLBB for you. Even his ultimate has a super short cooldown by the end of the game, letting you stun enemies in quick succession. While his first ability is not as powerful, his second ability launches multiple orbs towards enemies closer to him. The second ability also gives a movement boost, letting him either gank or escape. 

Zetian has a global ultimate that not only stuns enemies but also reveals their location on the whole map. The ultimate alone makes Zetian one of the best mages in MLBB to play in 2026. However, her first ability can shred enemies as well. The second ability is excellent for checking bushes or controlling the battlefield. 

Kagura has consistently topped the best mages in MLBB list since her release. The mage has two dash skills, giving her exceptional mobility in a game where mages are usually vulnerable. She can quickly come in, cause damage, and leave. The skill ceiling is a bit high for her, but once you learn her combo, you’ll be unstoppable. 

Lunox can be annoying to play against, but she’s so fun to play as. She has excellent anti-tank abilities, making her an ideal candidate against a sturdy team. Lunox has two ultimates in MLBB. The first light ultimate makes her completely invincible and untargetable. The dark ultimate lets her blink in a direction and reset the cooldown of her second ability. She can deal severe damage and still escape team fights. 

If the Area of Effect burst damage is your jam, Odette is the best mage in MLBB for you. Her ultimate deals continuous high magic damage in a large radius for five seconds. Combine her with a good roam like Tigreal or Johnson, and you can wipe out entire teams with her ultimate. Get Winter Crown on her to avoid any interruptions during her ultimate. 

Zhuxin has an incredible Area of Effect crowd-control ability, making her invaluable in late-game team fights. Her first ability applies “Soul Snare” to enemies and damages them. Once the stacks reach 10, she can pick up enemies and throw them, ideally towards her teammates. Zhuxin can also easily check bushes for potential ganks.

Want to stay behind your team and still do good damage? Try out Xavier. His ultimate Dawning Light can hit enemies anywhere on the map. While you do need to aim the skill shot, it can finish off low HP enemies. Xavier is also capable of stealing the Turtle or the Lord without leaving his lane. 

Harith may look hard to play, but once you know each ability, you can use his extraordinary mobility to kill off enemies. Harith can do sustained damage and can outplay enemies with ease. If you like kiting around your enemies, this hero is the best mage in MLBB. However, knowing when and where to drop his ultimate can make or break your game. 

Mages need to clear their waves faster and move to either objectives, help the jungler, or gank lanes. There is no point in standing around after you clear the minion wave. However, they are squishy and vulnerable to ganks, especially in the early game. Playing it safe, taking the safest route, and being patient are the traits of a good mage in MLBB. 

Mages shouldn’t go solo against multiple enemies, especially if the spells are single-target. Of course, mages like Cyclops, Eudora, or Vexanna have the potential to kill off a single target with a full spell combo. However, the combo exhausts all spells and makes the mage vulnerable. It’s best to have a teammate with you, even if you want to gank.
