The majority of Dota 2 teams have been decided for DreamLeague Season 28, with 14 out of 16 organisations confirmed.
Squads will compete from February 16th to March 1st, 2026, for the lion’s share of a $1m (~£741,800) prize pool.
Teams have qualified for the event through various methods, including the ESL Pro Tour leaderboards and regional closed qualifiers.
Of all the teams competing in DreamLeague Season 28, seven have been invited based on their rankings in the ESL Pro Tour leaderboards. These include Team Yandex, Team Spirit, PARAVISION, Xtreme Gaming, OG Esports, and Tundra Esports.
Nine teams have reached the Dota 2 event through their performance in the regional closed qualifiers. MOUZ, Team Liquid, NAVI, and Team Falcons will represent Western Europe. The rest are comprised of BetBoom Team from Eastern Europe, Execration from Southeast Asia, GamerLegion from North America, and Perú Rejects from South America.
As of writing, two spots remain to be filled by the winners of DreamLeague Division 2 Season 3 and ESL Challenger China.
What is DreamLeague Season 28?
DreamLeague Season 28 is a Dota 2 tournament that is part of the ESL Pro Tour circuit for the 2025/2026 season.
The $1m prize pool will be split, with $750,000 (~£556,350) offered to players and $250,000 (~£185,450) available in Club Rewards. ESL Pro Tour points are also up for grabs, which allow teams to qualify for future Dota 2 events organised by ESL Gaming, such as Season 29.
DreamLeague Season 28 will be split into three stages: Group Stage 1 and 2, and Playoffs.
Group Stage 1 will delegate teams into two groups of eight, each competing in a round-robin format. Only the top four teams will advance to the second half of the Group Stage, featuring a single round-robin.
The top two teams will then be seeded into the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs, third and fourth placed teams will begin in the Lower Brackets, while the rest are eliminated. The Playoffs will unfold through a double-elimination bracket, featuring BO3 matches and a BO5 Grand Final.
Previously, DreamLeague Season 27 was won by Team Yandex after defeating Team Spirit 3-1 in the Grand Finals.
