Bilibili Gaming has promoted academy top laner Yang ‘Wenbo‘ Wen-Bo to its first team roster for the current LPL split.
According to the organisation’s official Weibo page, the move is described as ‘a temporary promotion’ to the LPL roster. The decision comes amid rumoured rising tensions between the teams’ veteran top laner Chen ‘Bin‘ Ze-Bin and management, which has seemingly created an immediate need for a replacement at the position.
BLG shared the news on its official Weibo page, confirming that Wenbo will join the main roster with immediate effect. The team also praised his steady performances and team-focused style during his time in the LDL, China’s second league division.
The Chinese organisation closed the message by hoping Wenbo can “quickly adapt to the intensity of the competition and play a satisfactory performance with everyone.”
Wenbo’s promotion comes at a busy period for the team, as BLG is currently competing in the LPL’s first split group stage. After the opening matches, BLG sits in first place, tied with Anyone’s Legends and JD Gaming. The new BLG roster is expected to return to the stage tomorrow against Top Esports, with the match scheduled to begin at 11:00 GMT.
What Does Bin’s Departure Mean for BLG
If confirmed, Bin’s absence would be a major turning point for Bilibili Gaming. The veteran top laner is widely regarded as one of the strongest players the LPL has produced in recent years. Known for his aggressive laning and carry potential, Bin has been a central piece of BLG’s success since joining the team in 2022
At the 2025 World Championship, he continued to be the face of the team on the international stage, but the tournament ultimately ended in disappointment for the organisation. The team suffered a crucial loss to Top Esports, which ultimately meant BLG failed to qualify for the Knockout Stage. Despite the result, Bin remained one of the roster’s most recognisable players and a key member of the line-up.
Wenbo’s promotion offers potential, but stepping into the LPL under pressure could make or break the team. More details about BLG’s roster situation and Bin’s future are expected to emerge in the coming days.
