The Season 2 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone contains a wealth of changes to multiplayer and battle royale modes.

Launching on February 5th, 2026, the second post-launch update for both titles includes the launch of the anticipated Ranked Play modes and adjustments that will also impact the esports scenes.

Following the unveiling of the patch notes for Black Ops 7 and Warzone, Esports Insider takes a closer look at what the update has in store.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 7 Season 2 Patch Notes

The start of a new Call of Duty season often introduces several buffs and nerfs to weapons appearing within the multiplayer meta. For Season 2, Treyarch hasn’t introduced any weapon balancing. Instead, the changes will arrive at a later date.

“Season 2 weapon balancing is planned for an update in the near future to allow the team to monitor the latest weapons in the live game,” wrote the developer.

Season 2 introduces the REV-46 submachine gun and the EGRT-17 assault rifle, two new weapons possessing characteristics that could spark a change in the meta. Depending on their in-game performance, it will be interesting to see whether the new additions appear in the hands of the world’s best players competing on the big stage.

In addition to new weaponry, four new maps arrive to Black Ops 7 (Torment, Sake, Nexus and Slums), opening the door for the CDL to expand its existing map pool before the Major 2 qualifiers begin.

For fans of Call of Duty esports, the launch of Ranked Play offers players a dedicated mode using the same rules and regulations as the Call of Duty League (CDL).

Ranked Play has often struggled with cheaters impacting matches and players using unapproved hardware to gain the upper hand. In Season 2, Activision introduces new anti-cheat measures to stop players from using devices to ensure a level playing field.

Call Of Duty Warzone Season 2 Patch Notes

In contrast to Black Ops 7, Season 2 of Warzone includes a range of weapon balancing expected to shake up the existing meta. The Sturmwolf 45 and M15 MOD 0 have received nerfs, while the Maddox RFB has received a bullet velocity increase and lower recoil.

As a result, the Maddox RFB is set to become the most popular weapon to use in casual and competitive playlists.

Warzone’s Ranked Play mode also debuts in Season 2. Using the Resurgence mode and the Haven’s Hollow map, trios drop into the action to earn SR through scoring eliminations and a high placement.

Elsewhere, several Killstreaks have received adjustments. The Advanced UAV now requires four combined UAVs to activate instead of three, while the attacks from a Precision Airstrike have become one second faster.

Three new Perks will debut in the Season 2 update. The trio of Field Medic, Drill Instructor, and Surveyor provide a variety of benefits, ranging from faster revive speeds and buffs to health regeneration.

How Will Season 2 Impact Call Of Duty Esports?

With several new battlegrounds arriving, the map pool used in the Call of Duty League could receive a facelift if players deem them viable for competitive play. As a result of a lack of weapon balancing, the current meta of the Dravec 45 and the M15 MOD 0 will remain until new options emerge.

For Warzone, the update on its esports scene is much greater, with new weapons emerging as popular choices and new Perks offering players more choice when building a loadout.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see how the update impacts the action. CDL Major 2 qualifiers begin on February 13th, while high-profile Warzone tournaments such as the Pullze Check Ladder will showcase the new update on February 6th with the Grand Finals.
