In an unexpected anti-retirement comeback, fans witnessed a Caedrel NLC Support role victory as the former pro competed in a regional League of Legends Summer Seeding game for his team, Los Ratones. 

Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larsson transitioned to ADC, accommodating for the temporary shift.

Before retiring, Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont played in the Mid-lane position, or as a Jungler. However, his time in the NLC was as a support player.

A SKE48 Valorant roster is on the horizon as the Japanese idol group announces that they are forming a women’s team comprised of current SKE48 group members. 

The full roster and official team name are set to be announced during a press conference on August 19th.

Who are SKE48?

For those uninitiated in Japanese idol culture, SKE48 are an idol group that spans 13 generations of members. The current generation has 40 members and 17 kenkyuusei.

Britain’s William ‘mezii’ Merriman has become the first esports player ever to get a custom hashtag on X/Twitter.

The Brit joins the likes of LeBron James or seven-times Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles in getting a special image beside their name displayed in hashtag form. 

The hashtag comes after a year in which Vitality have dominated the opposition, winning seven events in a row, securing the ESL Grand Slam, and capturing 2025’s maiden major with victory in Austin.

Marvel Snap announces Golden Gauntlet Championship Series

Marvel Snap has announced its Golden Gauntlet Championship Series, an open esports circuit, allowing players to compete across the globe in hopes of qualifying for its Golden Gauntlet Worlds event in November.

The Marvel-themed mobile game, first released in 2022, is entering the world of esports for the first time with its circuit, which will be supported by livestreams on the official Twitch and YouTube platforms of the game.

Featuring three regional open qualifiers, the event’s focus is to enable its community to participate, including UK players who will have a chance to be part of the action during the third qualifier, scheduled for October.

EPIC.LAN 45 may have been a competitive zenith for the event, but the community feel of the event was still evident in every aspect. While match results and VRS points were making the headlines, EPIC.LAN continued to be the home of the British scene, reunited friends and building new relationships.

Wishing to reflect that community spirit, Esports News UK asked Jon Winkle, Leyna ‘Affinity’ McQuillin, Joshua ‘Dweg’ Nathan, and George ‘Geo’ Peters a deceptively simple question: “What does EPIC.LAN mean to you?”
