Team Liquid has parted ways with League of Legends mid laner Eain ‘APA‘ Stearns, bringing a two-year tenure on the organisation’s main roster to an end.

The North American player joined the organisation in 2022, representing the Liquid Challengers team before being promoted to the main roster.

Announced in a social media video, APA revealed that Team Liquid’s sixth-place finish for Split 3 of the LTA North 2025 season was a determining factor in the organisation’s decision to make further changes as it prepares for the 2026 LCS season.

The sixth place in Split 3 rounded off a disappointing 2025 season for Team Liquid. Consecutive fourth-place finishes in the first two splits resulted in missing out on qualification for the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the season-ending world championship.

“Thank you for three amazing years together,” wrote Team Liquid on social media. “Your growth as a person and player has been a journey we’re so thankful to be a part of. Our Finals MVP, our LCS and LTA champion, our First Team All-Pro Midlaner, and our friend.”

During his time representing Team Liquid, APA cemented himself as one of North America’s strongest midlaners. In 2024, the team won the LCS 2024 Spring Split and scored second in the Summer Split, earning APA a place in the All-Pro Team and the award for Most Improved Player.

Further Team Liquid Changes

APA’s departure from Team Liquid is part of a wider overhaul of the organisation’s League of Legends division. In September, the organisation revealed it had parted ways with Jeong ‘Impact’ Eon-young after his second stint on the starting lineup.

Alongside making changes to its roster, the organisation has also shaken up its coaching staff. October saw Kim ‘Reignover’ Yeu-jin leave the role of Head Coach, in addition to Assistant Coach Simon ‘Swiffer‘ Papamarkos.
