G2 Esports has announced one of the most shocking moves of the Off//Season by removing Jonah ‘JonahP‘ Pulice from its VALORANT roster.
While he served for G2 Esports for two years, he has been part of the overall roster for about four years.
The replacement for JonahP has not been revealed yet; however, the move has sparked backlash from the community for letting him go so close to the next season, giving him limited opportunities to find a new organisation.
“Can’t really wrap my head around the priorities that had to be weighed for this decision to be made while going into the meta we’re going into… Or any meta for that matter,” said G2’s former Strategic Coach, Martin ‘Anderzz’ Schelasin.
He added: “Tough all around, because the timing of this couldn’t really be worse in terms of roster-building timelines. Still, I’m confident that it won’t be long until class is back in session.”
In addition to this, G2 Esports has been one of the most successful teams not just in the Americas, but across the entire VCT circuit.
The roster won Ascension 2023 under The Guard’s banner before getting picked up by G2 and, since then, it has won VCT Americas twice, while qualifying for every international event.
JonahP has been an integral part of that journey as he won countless rounds with his presence of mind, particularly with Viper.
“As of today, JonahP is officially removed from our active roster. The past two years have been filled with memories and masterclasses across the globe that couldn’t have happened without the Professor. Thank you, Jonah,” G2 announced on X (Twitter).
When Will G2 Esports Announce Its New Signing?
G2 Esports will be competing at Red Bull Home Ground, starting on November 13th, and it’s possible that JonahP’s replacement will debut at the tournament. However, the organisation may also choose to play with Andrej ‘babybay‘ Francisty temporarily before announcing the new player.
