We’re going to dive into everything you need to know about all the Marvel Rivals Season 5 features. We’ll be looking at the upcoming content – including the new Marvel Rivals Season 5 heroes – as well as what is to come in the future and the changes the devs are making to certain aspects of the game.

Marvel Rivals season 5: Release date and theme

Marvel Rivals Season 5 is set to release on November 14, 2025. The season is called “Love is a Battlefield”, and as that name suggests, the themes revolve around love, couples, and romance. The narrative of the season focuses on new heroes Rogue and Gambit

When their wedding is interrupted by the Timestream Entanglement event, Gambit is determined to steal a rare ring to allow his romantic moment with Rogue to reignite. In the trailer, other couples are also briefly shown, such as Cloak & Dagger and Storm and Black Panther. Because of the lovey-dovey vibes, players will likely see a range of love-themed cosmetics in the first half of Season 5.

Marvel Rivals Season 5: New heroes

Gambit is the only new hero coming to the first half of Marvel Rivals Season 5. Rogue will also be released in Season 5 as a whole, though she probably won’t make an appearance until Season 5.5. In Marvel Rivals Season 5, Gambit is a Strategist hero who can use his kinetic cards to heal allies, remove debuffs, and damage enemies. Different cards have different skills, such as his Hearts card, which heals, and his Spades card, which allows for crowd control. He can also use his Bo Staff for both healing and offensive attacks.

There have been a few Marvel Rivals Season 5 leaks concerning Rogue, but nothing concrete has been revealed by NetEase Games yet, except for the fact that she will be the next hero after Gambit. Rogue’s leaked abilities are quite vague, but they do suggest that she will be able to absorb abilities from enemies, which is what her comic book counterpart’s main powers are. Her leaked skills are:

  • Ability to draw
  • Ability acquisition skill one
  • Ability acquisition skill two
  • Ability acquisition skill three

As mentioned, these are pretty vague descriptions to say the least. However, they definitely hint at Rogue’s absorption abilities being a major part of her skill kit when she enters the game.

In Marvel Rivals Season 5, Rogue could be a Vanguard or Duelist, or even a fellow Strategist like Gambit. However, it seems more likely that she will be a Duelist or Vanguard, as it seems unlikely that NetEase Games will release two Strategists consecutively.

Marvel Rivals Season 5: Team-ups

As well as new heroes, there are also three new team-ups, three adjusted team-ups and two removed team-ups in Marvel Rivals Season 5. The new team-ups are:

Blade of Khonshu: Blade and Moon Knight. Blade can slash at enemies with quick strikes of his sword after dashing forward. Each of these fast-paced strikes releases a moon blade. This blade does what Moon Knight’s blades do, and bounces from enemy to enemy, dealing damage (Moon Knight is the anchor).

Explosive Entanglement: Magneto and Gambit. Gambit charges Magneto’s greatsword with his kinetic energy (Gambit is the anchor). When Magneto uses this team-up, he can throw his charged greatsword at enemies. The sword explodes when it makes contact with the enemy, but it also unleashes a wave of kinetic energy that can deal damage again.

Sword of Duality: Cloak & Dagger and Hawkeye. Cloak & Dagger infuse Hawkeye’s katana with their light and dark energy (C&D are the anchor). When using Crescent slash, Hawkeye releases an energy wave that knocks enemies back, damaging them and applying an anti-heal debuff. However, the wave can also heal and buff his allies.

The altered team-ups are Primal Flame (Phoenix and Wolverine), Mental Projection (Emma Frost, Magneto and Psylocke), and Chilling Assault (Hawkeye, Iron Fist and Luna Snow). Magneto will be removed from Mental Projection, and Hawkeye will be removed from Chilling Assault. For Primal Flame, Black Widow will join the existing line-up. The team-up applies the Phoenix Force power to Black Widow’s sniper bullets, allowing her to switch between regular and Phoenix bullets. Phoenix bullets not only have the chance to deal critical damage, but they can also heal allies.

The removed team-ups in Season 5 are Lunar Force (Blade, Cloak & Dagger, and Moon Knight) and Operation Microchip (Black Widow and The Punisher).

Marvel Rivals Season 5: New maps and modes

There will also be two new maps and one new game mode coming to Season 5: Times Square and Grand Garden. The Times Square Marvel Rivals Season 5 new map is a unique one, as it is a non-combat map that will be a social hub of sorts for players to interact. This socialisation hangout map can host up to 100 players. On November 28, there will also be a new map released alongside a new game mode. The Grand Garden map will play host to the new 18 vs 18 Conquest Annihilation mode.

Marvel Rivals Season 5: Battle pass and skins

The Marvel Rivals Season 5 battle pass is called the Grand Garden Adventure, and it features 10 new skins that can be unlocked when the pass is purchased. There are new skins for the following heroes:

  • Adam Warlock
  • Angela
  • Black Widow
  • Groot
  • Hela
  • Namor
  • Scarlet Witch
  • The Punisher
  • The Thing
  • Ultron

These skins range in design, from a horror theme for The Punisher (the skin redesigns him as Frankenstein’s monster) to comic book looks, such as Black Widow, whose skin is based on her costume from the classic 1963 Avengers Comics. The skins are said to be inspired by “the shining dice of the Grandmaster – the D20s of Chronovorium that channel pure cosmic energy” according to the battle pass description

There will also be plenty of other cosmetics on the battle pass, but at the time of writing (November 12, 2025) all we have seen is a glimpse of the skins in the trailer and promotional artwork.

According to the Marvel Rivals Season 5 patch notes and roadmap, there are plenty of new events and other skins on the horizon for Season 5. An event called Elder’s Chessboard will be available straight away when Season 5 drops. This event allows players to earn a Spider-Man skin for free. Another event to celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary is dropping on November 28, and this will include a Jeff Business Shark skin earnable for free. Not only that, but every player who logs onto the game on or after November 27 will receive 2,500 free units to celebrate the game’s anniversary. This is no small amount, as 2,500 units equate to around $25 worth of in-game currency.

New accessories will also be available when the season comes out. The heroes and their upcoming accessories are as follows:

  • Gambit: Rogue accessory.
  • Human Torch: Bombastic Bag-Man Spider-Man accessory.
  • Loki: Alligator Loki accessory.
  • Magik: Kitty Pryde accessory.
  • Mantis: Drax with saxophone accessory.
  • Moon Knight: Bobblehead Khonshu accessory.
  • Phoenix: Cyclops accessory.
  • Thor: Frog Thor accessory.
  • Wolverine: X-23 accessory.
  • Star-Lord: Tamagotchi-style music player accessory.

New shop skins are dropping periodically throughout Season 5, according to the roadmap. On November 14, Gambit will receive a Thieves Guildmaster skin. Magneto will also have a skin called Temporal Tyrant, which will be available for purchase in the shop. The next shop skins – one for Magik and one for Doctor Strange, called “Van Dyne’s Design” – will release on November 21. Luna Snow and Psylocke – along with other heroes – will get shop skins on December 5 to celebrate Rivals Day (the game’s official anniversary).

When it comes to new features, the upcoming season offers plenty of fresh content alongside the cosmetic aspects of the game. In Marvel Rivals Season 5, cross-progression will finally be integrated into the game. The system allows each Marvel Rivals account to become one shared profile, so progress will stay the same across PlayStation, PC, and Xbox.

Another new feature is placement matches in competitive games. Players – from Season 5 on – will now have to play 10 placement matches. The results of these matches will then determine which tier the player will start in. This differs significantly from the previous system of starting all players in the bronze tier, and it could lead to more intense initial competitive matches.

Conclusion

That’s everything there is to know about Marvel Rivals Season 5 and all that the upcoming season has to offer. NetEase Games is pulling out all the stops to make Marvel Rivals a unique and fun online game, demonstrating a level of dedication to the community and its feedback with the introduction of new content (not to mention the free $25 worth of in-game currency) in the next season.
