Esports tournament organiser PGL has announced several adjustments to its 2026 Counter-Strike 2 calendar.
After announcing the dates for its 2026 calendar in March 2024, the tournament organiser has changed the dates of multiple events to avoid overlaps with other tournaments.
The opening PGL event of 2026 will take place from February 9th to 22nd in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. 16 teams will compete for a share of a $1.25m (~£952,783) prize pool. The last three days of the tournament will take place at the BTArena, the same location as PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025.
PGL Bucharest also returns in 2026 from April 3rd to 11th. Due to a calendar conflict, the tournament organiser has adjusted its schedule so the tournament ends on April 11th, a day earlier than initially planned.
From May 7th to 17th, Counter-Strike 2 heads to Astana, Kazakhstan, for a Tier 1 tournament. The event ends two days before the CS Asia Championship 2026. To assist teams competing in both events, PGL and Perfect World have joined forces to ensure organisations can compete in both.
PGL’s planned event set to take place in October has been cancelled due to ‘a full overlap with another organiser’s tournament’. As a replacement, the organiser has unveiled another event taking place from October 22nd to November 2nd, with more details appearing at a later date.
PGL CS2 Event Adjustments
Despite adhering to Valve’s tournament operation rulebook, PGL continues to adjust its calendar to avoid any conflict with other tournament operators and to enable the world’s best teams to attend.
In September 2025, it altered the end date of its Masters Bucharest event to allow teams enough time to travel to IEM Chengdu 2025.
For 2027, PGL and BLAST have announced CS2 events taking place at the same time in early January, resulting in teams having to choose which tournaments to take part in.
