TL;DR

  • Fortnite, launched in 2017, is made by Epic Games and has become the go-to battle royale title in its genre.
  • Chapter 7 Season 1 is set to start on December 1, featuring a Hollywood-inspired theme.
  • Already, an animated short called Yuki’s Revenge, a new story set in the Kill Bill universe, debuts on November 30 to start the new chapter.
  • Rumours suggest other characters from different movies will be appearing throughout this season, such as Marty McFly.

As we bid farewell to the hugely successful Simpsons x Fortnite collab that lasted throughout November, Chapter 7 is set to change everything again for Epic Games’ free-to-play battle royale title. A Hollywood theme is reportedly set to feature numerous characters from movies and TV shows.

Leaks suggest Marty McFly from Back to the Future, as well as The Bride from Kill Bill, will both appear heavily in the new chapter. This could mean that parts of the map will be inspired by these movie franchises, possibly letting players take part in moments from these titles, and more. With this in mind, we’re listing five ways below that could surpass the Simpsons x Fortnite mini-season in a variety of ways.

1. New scenes featuring The Bride and others

Epic Games released a teaser on November 26 about a new Kill Bill feature premiering on November 30, and it could be a sign of things to come. This lost chapter, called Yuki’s Revenge, is a story that creator and director Quentin Tarantino wanted to make, but ultimately decided not to. Instead, this story is what fans and players will be able to see.

It’s another unique way to bridge the gap between Hollywood and Fortnite, similar to how the four animated Simpsons shorts were released across November for the mini-season. Seeing more shorts, in addition to Yuki’s Revenge, could showcase more of The Bride and how she influences the Fortnite map throughout the chapter. However, with other Hollywood franchises making an appearance, it’s also possible that other characters could appear in their own shorts, attracting other players to see what’s going on.

2. Parts of the map reflect movie locations

A big part of why the Simpsons x Fortnite collab worked so well was due to the map being completely transformed into Springfield. Players could visit some locations from the animated show and complete objectives and missions that involved some of these places. It made a big impression, allowing players to visit locations that they had seen repeatedly on the hundreds of Simpsons episodes.

For Chapter 7, this concept could be taken even further by having sections of the map be 1:1 copies of locations from movies, such as the Clock Tower area from Back to the Future. This could have characters and music that reflect certain scenes from the movie to better immerse the player once they visit. But to have these scattered across the map, and change throughout the chapter, could be very fun for players, as it could make them revisit Fortnite to see what’s been included as the weeks pass.

3. Tracks from movie soundtracks

Music is a crucial part of any movie. If you’re a fan of the Star Wars movies, for instance, its soundtrack is likely something you love to hear repeatedly. The Simpsons x Fortnite collab had a few songs available to buy via its Item Shop, but offering a bunch of themes from movies and TV shows could eclipse this.

Imagine buying the Back to the Future theme to play as you browse through the Fortnite menus, or a Stranger Things theme as you flick through the radio stations while driving. These offerings could be a tempting purchase for many, especially if other companies decide to offer other tracks of their established shows and movies. Not only could it bring in a lot of revenue, but it could spur others to add these tracks to their streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.

4. Past movie crossovers returning in new ways

Of course, it’s not the first time that characters and locations from movies have appeared in Fortnite. Star Wars is a big example, showcasing bases and even playable X-Wings and Tie Fighters. Having this and other crossovers from the past return for Chapter 7 could make a lot of sense. It could give players the chance to buy cosmetics they may have missed previously.

Alien, The Terminator, John Wick, Ghostbusters, and more could all return for this new chapter without feeling shoehorned in. With the map seemingly taking inspiration from some franchises, these movies could also do similarly, appearing in new ways with locations that players can visit.

5. Time-travel

This movie-based chapter will likely last for several months before an event occurs to introduce something else, much like Zero Hour on November 29. With Marty McFly allegedly coming to Chapter 7, its ending could start with parts of the map transforming into past and future versions.

For example, one part of the map could feature Back to the Future’s Hill Valley in 1985, but for a week, it could be its 1955 version, until the final event starts. This isn’t something that’s been done in Fortnite before, and could give this chapter a new way for players to experience parts of the map. With the Simpsons x Fortnite collab’s map barely changing throughout November, this time-travel aspect could make up for this, making a big impression on players and fans of these movies.

Conclusion

The Simpsons were a huge success in Fortnite, where the crossover took over many of the game’s features, from the graphics to the playable map. But with Chapter 7 Season 1 about to arrive, there are lots of areas where it could overtake the success of the previous collab. From The Bride to Marty McFly, this could attract new players who have been fans of these movies for years, but never played Fortnite.

It’s these collaborations that could benefit Epic Games and those who want to feature their movie franchises in the game. With the Yuki’s Revenge short airing, it’s proof of how the free-to-play title is not just a game anymore. Instead, it’s an IP that makes it easy for franchises like The Simpsons and Back to the Future to partner up, instead of looking like a cash grab.

We’re curious to see how this chapter unfolds, but from what’s been announced so far, we could be set to see an even bigger player base for Fortnite than what the Simpsons collab brought to the game.
