Not only was the live event tons of fun, it also gathered millions of players together and allowed them to enjoy the madness of the Fortnite multiverse as one.
In this article, we’re going to recap the Fortnite Zero Hour event, highlight some of our favourite moments and take a look at what to expect from Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1.
What is Fortnite Zero Hour?

Fortnite Zero Hour was an interactive live event that signalled the end of Fortnite Chapter 6 and the beginning of Chapter 7. The event was highly ambitious, bringing together an Avengers: Endgame level of characters from across various properties that have partnered with Epic Games to bring their franchises to the game.
The event also tied up the narrative of Chapter 6, with Jonesy and Hope eventually defeating the Dark Presence – with help from an array of characters – as the island of Oninoshima is finally cleansed of its demons. However, upon arrival at the new island introduced in Chapter 7, the beloved battle bus is destroyed by a giant ship in the sky, leading to the emergence of another threat.
The event was successful in amping up the hype for Chapter 7, but it was also an incredibly fun interactive narrative that brought together beloved characters from iconic franchises in an ultimate battle scenario. There was a time when seeing Homer Simpson fighting alongside Godzilla and the Dino Megazord would have been considered an impossible dream, but Fortnite Zero Hour made it a reality, and for that, we’re eternally grateful.
Fortnite Zero Hour highlights
There were plenty of standout, cinematic moments from the recent Fortnite live event. Let’s take a look at some of the moments that are sure to be remembered by gamers for all the right reasons.
Let sleeping Homers lie

While waiting for the event to begin, players are given the task of trying to wake a giant Homer Simpson as he takes a nap in his underwear in the middle of Springfield. All you have to do is press the red button to lob giant donuts at him, but it was a fun way to kick off the event and wrap up the Springfield narrative of the Simpsons mini-season.
Reality jumping

The interdimensional travelling to fight the Dark Presence doesn’t go exactly to plan at first, as players end up hopping through the wrong dimensions to get where they need to be. This was a pretty fun segment that included a trip to a black and white noir-style detective agency, a bobblehead world, a world where everyone seems to be Playboy Carti (and we are all playing basketball), the Fall Guys universe, a Hatsune Miku concert, space, and back to Springfield to jump on giant Homer’s belly. After a bit of tweaking, the player reaches the battle against the Dark Presence.
Assemble

There is no doubt that one of the coolest moments in the Zero Hour Live Event is when a range of characters from different franchises start to appear through Rifts, similar to how the Avengers arrive to fight Thanos via Doctor Strange’s portals in Avengers: Endgame. It’s a pop culture fan’s paradise, and it was awesome to see it live.
Some of the characters that can be seen here include the following:
- The Winter Soldier, Yelena Belova and Iron Man from Marvel.
- Scorpion and Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat.
- Godzilla.
- The Scooby-Doo gang (Scooby, Shaggy, and Velma. A Fortnite racing version of the Mystery Machine appears, so Fred and Daphne are likely there, too).
- Super-Man (2025 film version).
- Invincible, Atom Eve and Allen from Invincible.
- The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
- The Front Man and a Guard from Squid Game.
- Giant Homer Simpson.
- Playboy Carti (he’s just there for some reason, but why not).
- Marty McFly in the DeLorean.
- The SA-2 Samson helicopters from the Avatar films (not a character but still a cool reference).
- TIE Fighters and X-Wings from Star Wars (also not characters, but very popular vehicles).
- The Power Rangers.
- Mega Dino Zord from Power Rangers.
- Beavis and Butthead.
- Master Chief from Halo.
- King Kong.
There are also plenty of original Fortnite characters who appear to join the fight, including the students from Supernova Academy, Peely, Meowscles and random brainrot characters from the Steal The Brainrot game modes.
Those interested in Fortnite Zero Hour skins for both the original and the licensed characters seen in the event can find a range of them in the shop (or in rotation), such as Homer in his underwear, Godzilla, and King Kong. Certain skins, including Marty McFly and The Bride, are available now in the Chapter 7 Season 1 battle pass.
How It’s Done

The huge popularity of the animated movie K-Pop Demon Hunters and its three main protagonists is well and truly utilised in Zero Hour as the battle begins. The song “How It’s Done” from the film begins to play as the three hunters – Rumi, Mira and Zoey – are seen in a helicopter (which they glide away from as it explodes, so don’t worry kids, they are still alive).
The song continues to play as the player takes shots at the Dark Presence, and the characters come together to fight. Not only is this a hugely impressive feat for the franchise to be included so significantly when the film only came out in summer 2025, but it also works exceedingly well for the battle sequence, making it a standout moment.
Godzilla x Miku

In a blink and you’ll miss it moment, Hatsune Miku is seen riding on Godzilla’s head and using her Miku Miku beam at the same time that he uses his atomic breath. This is a nice reference from the devs to the fan base, who created the meme of a friendship between the two characters.
Saved by the Bride

The Bride from Kill Bill makes an appearance to save the player and escort them on her motorbike, which makes for a super cool sequence. Players have to shoot bugs as The Bride drives. This part genuinely felt epic, especially when Superman saves you both from a falling boulder. It’s multiverse madness on another level, but it works.
Homer is doing his best

A running joke on social media is that Homer didn’t really do much during the Zero Hour fight, and while he isn’t really as effective as the likes of Godzilla or King Kong, he is definitely doing his best. If you keep your eyes on him as the battle continues, you’ll get to see some of his contributions to the battle, such as throwing giant donuts and strangling a tentacle. He even punches a queen bug in the face. He’s doing his part to the best of his ability, and we love him for that.
Mecha Team Leader

After Jonesy rifts in a red Corruption Cube, Mecha Team Leader appears to punt it into the Dark Presence, destroying them and bringing life back to Oninoshima Island. It’s a finishing move that saves the day, but the identity of the mech’s pilot remains unknown, which could lead to a revelation in the next chapter.
What does Fortnite Zero Hour tell us about Chapter 7?

The event ends with a teaser of Chapter 7, showing Jonesy, Peely (or Unpeely), Meowscles and Human Bill gallivanting around the new West Coast-inspired map in a not-so-subtle parody of The Hangover movies. A large ship appears above the island, destroying the incoming battle bus, which also teases the new surfing traversal method of landing on the island (although the battle bus is confirmed to be returning on December 4). The ending cutscene also teases a return of The Seven, an important group in Fortnite lore.
Conclusion
The Fortnite Zero Hour live event was an incredibly fun and entertaining experience for Fortnite players and general pop culture fans alike. Combining the best parts of Ready Player One with Avengers: Endgame and making it interactive was a smart move by Epic Games, and one that managed to ramp up excitement for Fortnite Chapter 7 even further.
