TL;DR

  • The best Dota 2 rookies are based on their individual and team performances, along with potential.
  • Rookies generally refer to players making their professional, senior debut at Dota 2 esports’ highest level in 2025.
  • Most teams didn’t have rookies in 2025, with most of the best coming from NAVI Vincere and making their Dota TI debuts.
  • Satanic has found form in his loan to PARIVISION, winning DreamLeague Season 26 and ESL One Raleigh 2025.

Now coming to a close, 2025 has been another big year for Dota 2 esports, and while plenty of established names have shone throughout the season, there have been some promising newcomers to the scene. With the depth of talent in Dota 2 esports, it’s never easy for these rookies to break through and, when they find their place on a team, it becomes all the more impressive.

Rookies are the lifeblood of any esport, often being an insight into what the future of a game’s competitive scene will look like. With the end of 2025 looming, it seems like the right time to look at the most promising rookies in Dota 2.

How we ranked the best Dota 2 rookies in 2025

Unlike League of Legends, Dota 2 doesn’t have its own recognised set of ‘rookie of the year’ awards for its regions. Still, rookies are commonly considered to be players making their full or partial professional debut at the highest level of an esport in the last year, although we will also be looking at upcoming players that have a few, if disjointed, years under their belt.

While individual performances will be taken into account, like MVPs, team performances will also factor into our consideration for the best Dota 2 rookies. While not all rookies are necessarily young in esports terms, age and potential will also be factors taken into consideration.

With that said, let’s have a look at the best breakouts in Dota 2 esports 2025 and the rising stars that could become the face of the sport.

Best Dota 2 rookies of 2025

5. Yurii “pma” Prots

Natus Vincere featured in the youngest squad at The International (aka Dota 2 TI), and while Yurri “pma” Prots isn’t the youngest, he still brought the average squad age of 20.6 years down, at 19 years old. The Ukrainian offlaner impressed at the junior level, being part of the NAVI Junior squad that won plenty of Tier 3 tournaments, and made the big jump to the highest level.

While pma and his young squad have yet to win big at the highest level, Natus Vincere have been a consistent force in 2025 but confidently getting through qualifiers. With players with the potential of pma, there is hope that NATUS Vincere will have an even bigger 2026 with its rookie team.

4. Taras “gotthejuice” Linnikov

While many teams haven’t turned to rookies in the Dota 2 esports scene, Taras “gotthejuice” Linnikov, is another NAVI Junior graduate who got promoted to the Vincere senior team. He and his team have made ripples through esports, and this 20-year-old, Ukrainian carry hasn’t let himself be outshone by his teammate, even as the oldest of the rookies.

With Natus Vincere sticking to this ‘homegrown’ talent model, it’s a wonder how it got a team of Ukrainian wonderkids together and made it work. While NAVI is yet to win big with this team, Taras’ role as the carry will be vital as he and his teammates improve to challenge for bigger prizes, bringing silverware to Ukraine.

3. Stanislav “Riddys” Mitroshkyn

One of the many Natus Vincere members on this list, Riddys is the support and occasional captain of the team, despite only being 20 years old. Riddys, and many of the now senior team, were part of a NAVI Junior side that won many tier 3 events, and their transition to the highest level has been a relatively smooth one.

Riddys has been a massively important part of this team, especially considering how young the majority of them are and, like his teammates, the sky seems like the limit. Him and Natus Vincere look like they could go even further, and Riddys is certainly a player to look out for.

2. Artem “Niku” Bachkur

Niku had a brilliant debut year in 2025, breaking numerous ‘youngest ever’ records in Dota 2 esports. At 15 years old, he beat the record for the youngest player to reach the 13,000 MMR milestone, being a Ukrainian, solo midlaner for Natus Vincere. Now at 16, he has become a vital part of his team, having previously played for NAVI Junior.

Now at 16, Niku made his Tier 1 debut at PGL Wallachia season 4, being the youngest player from Eastern Europe to do so. He then made his debut at The International, the second-youngest player to ever do so, and while he has yet to be a major threat for trophies with Natus Vincere, his age and potential make him a rookie to keep an eye on.

1. Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov

Despite making his debut in late 2023 with Yellow Submarine, it hasn’t been an easy road for Satanic, with the 18-year-old currently on loan to PARIVISION from Team Spirit. His time at Team Spirit has been a rough one, being made a substitute in 2024, despite some standout performances.

Satanic’s stint in PARIVISION has reminded everyone why he is still such a wonderkid, winning DreamLeague Season 26 and ESL One Raleigh 2025, both Tier-1 tournaments. He has also been listed in Forbes Russia’s 30-under-30 in the Sports and Esports category in 2025, even more impressive considering that he is still only 18. After some course correcting with PARIVISION, it seems that Satanic is on the rise yet again.

Conclusion

Dota 2 esports has many established players in their early twenties, and it seems that a lot of teams are filling their rosters with these experienced players. True rookies are hard to find, but this is what makes NAVI’s team so brave, being made up of rookies in 2025, and the potential is there for all to see. These are the names that can be the next big thing in Dota 2.

While players tend to have the spotlight on them at a young age in Dota 2, the continued breaking of ‘youngest ever’ records shows that the talent is right there for the best Dota 2 rookies. Keep an eye on these young talents. They could be dominating the esport before long.
