NRG has won Fragadelphia’s Frag Miami 2 Counter-Strike 2 event, beginning the 2026 season on the front foot.
The North American esports organisation defeated European side 9INE 3-1 in the first notable CS2 LAN event of the year.
NRG’s Road To Victory
Frag Miami 2 marked the debut of NRG’s new roster. On December 24th, 2025, the organisation announced the return of Joshua ‘oSee’ Ohm to the starting line-up following the departure of Zechrie ‘XotiC‘ Elshani.
The team kicked off Stage 2 with victories over Kraken Seas and Marsborne to top Group C and earn a place in the quarter-finals. NRG found itself on the back foot against Team Voca, losing the opening map. A 13-8 victory on Dust II, followed by a 13-3 win on Train, completed the reverse sweep to set up a clash against GamerLegion in the semi-final.
NRG dominated the best-of-three against the Europeans, scoring a convincing 2-0 sweep to secure a place in the Grand Final against 9INE.
The Grand Final began with five overtimes and 48 rounds of action. NRG managed to break the deadlock, winning 25-23 to secure the early series lead. 9INE responded in overtime on Overpass with a 16-14 win to level the series at one map apiece.
NRG’s superior defence shone through on Inferno, taking the map 13-7 and building momentum as it closed in on victory. Its defensive strategy made the difference on Train, with NRG winning 11 rounds in the opening half. Two attacking rounds in the second half capped off a 13-5 win to complete a 3-1 series victory.
As a result of winning Frag Miami 2, NRG takes home $5,000 (~£3,723) in prize money along with Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points that determine which teams earn invitations to Tier 1 events. Thanks to the victory, NRG has earned a place at IEM Krakow, taking place at the end of January.
