North American esports organisation FlyQuest has signed João ‘story‘ Vieira to its Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) roster, completing the lineup.
The move follows the organisation’s decision to move Iulian ‘regali’ Harjău to the bench after he joined the team in December 2024.
The roster change follows a disappointing end to what initially appeared to be a promising run at the StarLadder Budapest Major at the end of 2025.
The Australian side successfully navigated its way through Stage 1 of the season-ending tournament before crashing out in Stage 2 without securing a single win.
Currently ranked 26th in the global standings, FlyQuest is on the cusp of missing out on opportunities to receive direct invitations to high-profile events.
story left SAW after the Portuguese esports organisation sold its roster on January 3rd. The AWPer was a part of his former team since 2022, where he managed to achieve a semi-final run at IEM Cologne 2024 and a 19th-place finish at the PGL Copenhagen Major the same year.
In 2025, story continued to show signs of improvement as SAW competed at multiple high-profile events. November saw the team score a top-four finish at PGL Masters Bucharest, climbing to a peak ranking of 18th in December’s Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
What Next For FlyQuest?
Although FlyQuest has yet to confirm when its CS2 roster will return to action, team manager Chris‘GoMeZ’ Orfanellis revealed that the team will compete ‘in two weeks.’
This could be the Zhi-Tech Elite Masters 2026, a Chinese CS2 LAN event, which is hosting its closed qualifiers from January 17th to 19th, with the top eight sides earning a place in the LAN finals.
Eight teams will compete at the tournament for a share of a ¥300,000 CNY (~£31,860) prize pool, along with a spot in the closed qualifier for the Asian Champions League taking place in April.
Apart from the prize money and a chance to earn a place in a Tier 1 tournament, VRS points are up for grabs as the race to IEM Cologne Major qualification begins.
