The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Year 5 Championship Group Stage has concluded, with Team Falcons topping the group standings following an eventual second day.

Day two saw new storylines emerge. Previously overshadowed teams finally got their moment to shine, and a chaotic finale concluded one of the closest Group Stages in recent memory.

Esports Insider takes a look at the rosters that stood out, for better or worse, on day two of the ALGS Year 5 Championship.

Day two marked the end of the Group Stage, concluding with a final series featuring Group B vs C and Group A vs D. These final two series had a huge impact on determining how teams will start the Bracket Stage, where the risk of elimination begins.

Team Falcons Soar in the Group Stage

Team Falcons has ended day two of the Group Stage as the in-form team, topping the overall group standings, which experienced major shifts compared to the results of day one.

Recording a total of 166 points, the MENA organisation finished eight points ahead of second-place UNLIMITED (158). Citadel Gaming finished the Group Stage in third (158), while day one table topper ENTER FORCE.36 claimed fourth (157).

Team Falcons had an incredibly successful run since the beginning of the ALGS Year 5 Championship, despite its top player Philip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen having his go-to controller banned. It secured a sizeable lead on day one, securing 123 points and multiple first-place wins against the international competition, basically securing its place in the Upper Bracket already.

Day two saw Team Falcons secure 43 additional points thanks to its efforts, which included a third-place finish in game one of Group B vs C. Despite faltering for the rest of the series, its earlier efforts secured the team first place overall going into the next stage.

Only time will tell whether Team Falcons can continue this momentum and reach the Finals to become the Year 5 champions. As one of the tournament favourites, it is very much a possibility.

Supernova Dominates When It Mattered Most

Whilst Team Falcons stole the headlines, Supernova’s performance certainly can not be overshadowedIn Group A vs D, the team securedmultiple first-place wins throughout the last series to climb up the ranks in spectacular fashion and secure an Upper Bracket spot.

Firstly, the organisation finished the first game as runner-up after Gaimin Gladiators, with only two members, flanked both Supernova and Wolves Esports in the last ring to secure an unlikely win.

Game two saw Supernova claim a win after taking down both Oblivion and GROW Gaming in the final ring of Storm Point. Supernova would also gain a back-to-back victory in game three, finishing with 10 eliminations and securing a large number of points.

Supernova started the ALGS Year 5 Championship with a less-than-ideal start, failing to get a win despite a few close calls. As a result, it ended the first day ranked 24th (60) in the group standings.

However, its stronger display on day two allowed the roster to skyrocket up the rankings, now ranked fifth (136) and punching a ticket to the Upper Bracket.

Gen.G and Shopify Rebellion Bounce Back

On day one of the ALGS Championship, many of the top performers failed to make their mark in the tournament. In particular, Split 2 Pro League winners Shopify Rebellion and Gen.G Esports (Gen.G) were often overshadowed by lesser-known or orgless teams. That all changed on day two during Group B vs C.

Gen.G jumped from 27th (58) to 11th (118), meanwhile Shopify Rebellion climbed from 20th (65) to 12th (116). As a result, both teams have made it to the Upper Bracket.

Gen.G Esports kickstarted its day two run with a win in the first game on Storm Point. After both Fnatic and Team Falcons barely survived a hectic gun fight in the final ring, Gen.G capitalised on the opportunity to finish off the weakened teams.

The team wasn’t done, as it would claim its next first-place win on game three on Storm Point, winning a 3v2 gunfight against FaZe Clan and finishing with 10 eliminations.

Shopify Rebellion also stepped up atthe ALGS Year 5 Championship. After ending day one without a single victory, Shopify Rebellion claimed its first victory in game four of B vs C. At the beginning of the series, the team struggled, placing 18th and 19th in the first two games. But everything would change as the ALGS map pool shifted to Olympus

After Al Qadsiah eliminated UNLIMITED in the final ring, the team tried to push Shopify Rebellion. However, the American team were in a stronger position and eliminated them one by one. Following the results of Group Stage day two, both teams will now be quietly confident going into the Bracket Stage.

A Dramatic Final Sees Crazy Thieves Miss Out

After a full day of intense matches, it all came down to the final game in Group A vs D at the ALGS Year 5 Championship. It was all to play for, serving as the final opportunity for certain teams to break into the top 20 and reach the Upper Bracket.

On Olympus, the game saw teams such as Aurora and VK Gaming eliminated early doors, followed by top performers such as Citadel Gaming, GoNext Esports, and Alliance soon after.

Out of the 20 teams competing in the last game of the series, it all came down to the last three squads: ENTER FORCE.36, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Crazy Thieves

The final ring forced all three teams to confront each other in a winner-takes-all gunfight. ENTER FORCE.36 was the first team to be eliminated, leaving only Ninjas in Pyjamas and Crazy Thieves.

It ended in a 1v1 duel between Ninjas in Pyjamas Nicholas ‘veins’ Hobbs and Crazy Thieves Josue ‘Phony’ Daniel Ruiz, but Phony prevailed in the end.

Crazy Thieves had won the final game of the series. However, their celebrations were short-lived as the players realised that Ninjas in Pyjamas still managed to secure the 20th spot in the group standings, having done so with a two-point difference (103 to 101).

While Crazy Thieves and Ninjas in Pyjamas stepped up when it mattered most, some of the top performers from day one didn’t bring as strong a performance. Teams like Alliance struggled in the final day of the Group Stage, securing only 15 points overall following its day one performance. However, Alliance had already reached 100 points from day one and so relied on its past performance to reach the Upper Bracket.

Even so, it was a close call for a lot of teams. This marked the first time in ALGS Championship history that reaching 100 points would not result in a place in the Upper Bracket. As such,  Crazy Thieves, FaZe Clan (101), and ROC Esports (100) will begin in the Lower Brackets despite reaching 100 points.

As day two concludes, the Upper and Lower Brackets for the next stage of the ALGS Year 5 Championship have been decided.

The top 20 teams move on to the Upper Bracket, while the bottom 20 will begin in the Lower Bracket. Similar to the Group Stage, teams will aim to earn as many points as possible through high placements and eliminations.

The Bracket Stage will take place on January 17th, 2026. The day will begin with the first round of the Lower Bracket, where 10 teams will be eliminated. The Upper Bracket will follow suit, where the top 10 will move to the finals, and the rest move to the second round of the Lower Bracket.

The top performers from the Lower Bracket will face off against the worst teams from the Upper Bracket in a last-ditch effort to reach the Finals. Once again, only 10 will make it through, while the rest leave the tournament.
