Esports organisation Cloud9 has issued a statement clarifying the state of its Rainbow Six Siege X roster.

Cloud9’s statement retracts comments made in a previous post suggesting that it was dropping its players, which the organisation has since confirmed is not true.

In its statement, Cloud9 sought to set the record straight regarding ‘ongoing conversations’ with its Rainbow Six Siege players. It shared that it is offering the team a ‘new agreement with a 100% skin revenue share.’ Additionally, it has encouraged players to explore ‘options’ while the organisation ‘considers the path forward.’

“We want to apologise for our previous post,’ Cloud9 wrote on social media. “It was premature and didn’t reflect the ongoing conversations with our R6 roster.

“We value this group and want to ensure they have every opportunity to make the best decision for their careers.”

The initial post caused confusion not just among fans, but also came as a shock to some of its players. Support player Mitch ‘Dream‘ Malson added that player salaries were reportedly dropping, but the ‘option to stay was there.’

Cloud9’s head coach for Rainbow Six Siege, Charles ‘Vivid‘ Stahelek, also confirmed that the team was not parting ways with the organisation.

“Just to clarify we didn’t get dropped,” Vivid wrote online. “They were just thanking us for the past year of us being on the team. We still have our spot but they are just letting us explore options if we wanted to join other teams if we got offered.”

Cloud9’s miscommunication comes at a tumultuous time in Rainbow Six Siege X esports, as some well-known brands, such as ENVY, announced stepping away from the scene.

Cloud9 in Rainbow Six Siege

Cloud9 has had a rough year in Rainbow Six Siege X esports, ultimately failing to qualify for the Six Invitational 2026 (SI) in Paris, France.

The organisation ended its 2025 run after placing third in the North America Last Chance Qualifier for SI, losing 1-2 to Oxygen Esports in the Lower Bracket Finals.

Beforehand, the team struggled in the North America League, placing seventh overall in the regional point leaderboards and barely missing out on the Regional Finals in Philadelphia, US.
