In less than four years since its inception, Ontario’s regulated online gambling sector has generated more than CAD$10bn (~£5.34bn) in total revenue.

In addition to CAD$2.04bn (£1.09bn) in total tax revenue for the province, the market brought in CAD$10.2bn (£5.45bn) over the 45 months from its opening in April 2022 to the end of December, according to data released by iGaming Ontario.

The market also set a record in December 2025. Total online gambling revenue reached CAD$425.4m, exceeding the previous monthly high of CAD$406.2m set in November 2025 by 4.7%.

Only during these two months has Ontario’s internet industry generated more than CAD$400m.

Strong 2025 Growth Across Casino and Sports Betting

Ontario’s online gambling revenue for the 2025 fiscal year was CAD$4.04bn, up 34% from CAD$3.01bn in 2024 and 78% from CAD$2.27bn in 2023.

The majority of this performance came from online casino products, which brought in CAD$3.15bn in 2025 — up 40% from CAD$2.25bn in 2024 and 92% more than the CAD$1.64bn in 2023.

Gains were also seen in sports betting from year to year. Revenue from online sports betting reached CAD$814.9m in 2025, up 43% from CAD$570m in 2023 and 18.6% from CAD$687.1m in 2024.

With revenue of CAD$5.8m in December — a slight decrease from CAD$6.3m in November — online poker made up a smaller portion.

Both the casino and sports betting segments contributed significantly to December’s overall record.

Eclipsing the previous record of CAD$304.2m set in October, online casino revenue reached CAD$320.5m. This is the highest monthly total to date and only the second time this vertical has surpassed CAD$300m.

December’s sports betting revenue of CAD$99.1m was the second-highest month ever, after November 2025’s CAD$102m.
