Studying Corrode – Valorant’s new map drops with a bang

Valorant’s latest addition to the map pool, Corrode, has plenty of new opportunities and quirks for players to pick apart. 

Here’s what you need to know, from Corrode’s entrance to the map pool to navigating the sites. 

Patch 11.00 – June 25th 

Patch 11.00 covers Corrode’s addition to the map pool, Agent updates, new competitive map rotation, and more. 

Waylay, Reyna, Phoenix, and Neon have ability adjustments, while Breach, Sova, Clove, Killjoy, Cypher, Omen, and Brimstone are the subjects for clarity and consistency improvements. 

However, the highlight of the Patch is the addition of Corrode.

Interview with Fragging Friends Sirens’ Wolfiee on goals for VCT Game Changers

UK esports organisation Fragging Friends’ women’s Valorant team, known as FRG Sirens, have completed their bootcamp ahead of the Equal Esports Queens 2025: Split 3 – Division 2.

The British esports organisation hopes that this bootcamp will help the team to eventually qualify for the Valorant Champions Tour Game Changers EMEA Stage 3 later this year.

We interviewed British player Morgan, also known as Wolfiee, after their recent bootcamp, which saw the team and staff join together to improve the team.

The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is about to get underway in Vancouver, Canada.

MSI will see the two strongest teams from each region compete to earn automatic qualification at this year’s LoL World Championships.

Legendary Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok will play at MSI this year, but there are also a lot of other exciting players competing at the tournament.

Ari’s Na’Vi qualify for PGL Wallachia Season 5 playoffs in last event as active roster

Matthew ‘Ari’ Walker’s loan home, Na’Vi, have qualified for the PGL Wallachia Season 5 playoffs after defeating BetBoom to set a 3-1 record in the Swiss Stage of the competition. The Brit is currently on loan from OG, who exited the event with a 1-3 record.

PGL Wallachia Season 5 is the roster’s final event as the active roster of the Na’Vi organisation, as Na’Vi have previously announced that the Na’Vi Junior academy roster will become the main roster on July 1st.

Hytale development axed after game studio admits preparation for closure

In a devastating blow, a decade of game development has ended in the cancellation of Hytale.

Hypixel Studios has been building the sandbox with support from Riot Games since 2015, but the development studio now prepares for closure.   

What went wrong in Hytale’s development?

Officially announced in December 2018, Hytale was intended to be a sandbox set to rival Minecraft. The 2018 trailer garnered 61 million views, and Riot Games acquired Hypixel Studios, the developers, in 2020. 

Despite the enthusiasm for increased customisation opportunities and a new look to the block-based sandbox survival genre, a decade of development has now officially ended.

UK Government to invest £30m into local gaming industry but nothing for esports

The UK Government has committed £30 million to invest in helping grow the United Kingdom’s gaming industry.

A £30m Games Growth Package has launched, offering £10m annually over the next three years to support the next generation of games studios and developers.

These plans are part of the government’s new £380m investment package for creative industries to ensure the UK remains a “creative superpower.”

This announcement comes after British games body Ukie warned the government that the UK games industry could miss out on £500m.

ALGS Sapporo returns for 2026 and 2027 in multi-year deal

EA and Respawn are bringing ALGS Sapporo for two additional Japanese Championships. The popular location for the Year 4 Championship in January 2025 will also host the Year 5 and Year 6 LAN events.

Dates for the Year 5 Championship have also been revealed.

The journey back to ALGS Sapporo 

In January 2025, the Sapporo-hosted ALGS Championship drew more than 34,000 in-person attendees, breaking records for Apex Legends viewership. 

The event’s success has prompted EA and Respawn to sign a multi-year deal with the City of Sapporo to return to the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME.
