London Esports growth: Does The Mayoral Office really understand its esports policy?

In a conversation with Esports News UK, Howard Dawber (OBE), Deputy Mayor for Business, explained how London esports initiatives are integrated into the city’s growth plan. 

However, the Mayoral Office does not seem to be completely aware of key challenges currently affecting UK esports. Although their plans are paved with good intentions, will the London Mayoral Office actually be able to support UK esports development?

During the BLAST Open Fall London Counter-Strike tournament in September, representatives from the London Mayoral Office attended the event to discuss London esports growth and strategy.

Pokémon has announced a new pop-up shop which will be present in London’s Natural History Museum for a 3-month period.

The Pokémon × Natural History Museum pop-up shop will be open from January 26 to March 22 2026.

The shop will be accessible to those with tickets to enter, with registration for the free tickets opening on October 1 2025.

Former LEC jungler Shad0w makes history as first European LPL champion

Jungler Zhao ‘Shad0w’ Zhiqiang has made history as the first European to win the LPL in China.

Shad0w is an Italian pro having been born in Milan to a family of Chinese heritage.

The former MAD Lions and LEC pro has revitalised his career, starring in Bilibili Gaming’s Summer Split triumph versus Top Esports 3-2.

Shad0w only joined BLG two months ago and now will compete in the main event of the League of Legends World Championship for the first time ever.

Head of Valorant esports provides update on open VCT EMEA slot – Who could replace Movistar KOI?

Daniel Ringland, Head of Valorant Esports in the EMEA region, has provided an update regarding the open partner slot in VCT EMEA following the shocking removal of KOI from VCT.

Ringland outlined the process by which candidates would be selected, stating that 10 organisations had been invited to the process.

Ringland stated in the update that, “We invited ten orgs with strong ties to Valorant Esports in EMEA – including our outgoing visitor teams and Ascension teams – to participate in the selection process.”

Outgoing teams for EMEA include Gentle Mates and Apeks, who were both relegated following EMEA Stage 2.

Former World Champion and 6x NA winner Impact leaves Team Liquid

Legendary League of Legends toplaner Jeong ‘Impact’ Eon-young has announced he is leaving Team Liquid.

The announcement comes after the North American organisation were shockingly eliminated from LoL World Championship qualification early.

The Korean previously won the LoL World Championships with SKT T1 back in 2013.

He has also won six North American titles in the LCS/LTA, all during his two stints with Team Liquid.

Team Liquid has never won an NA title without Impact, so they likely won’t be favoured by LoL betting sites next season.

CTBC Flying Oyster became the first LCP 2025 Champions after the Pacific’s regional unification.

The team maintained a dominant performance throughout the entire Season Finals split, winning every series they played from Phase 1 to the Grand Final.

The Tiên Sơn Sports Palace in Đà Nẵng, Vietnam, staged the first LCP Grand Final after the region’s unification and formation. 

Initially, it seemed as though the Grand Final could be anyone’s game. 

Both CTBC Flying Oyster and Team Secret Whales demonstrated strengths in different areas.

FlyQuest have partnered with the all-women’s roster of Eterna for the upcoming League of Legends Game Changers Rising (LGC) tournament.

The North American organisation will compete in EMEA thanks to Eterna’s flawless 6-0 record in the Open Qualifier.

While competing in EMEA, Eterna’s roster has two Americans in toplaner Ivy ‘Starrie’ Starr and support Skylar ‘Virtuosa’ Hew.

Eterna won their first match of the tournament, shocking Solary Academy, and next face Vitality Rising Bees on Sunday, September 21st.

EA FC 26 launches with frustrating Career Mode glitch

EA FC 26 is officially out with Ultimate Edition purchasers already able to play the game.

However, as EA Sports prepares for the universal release, it appears a lot of bugs and glitches are already been discovered.

And many players are already frustrated by a bizarre glitch in the new Career Mode which has strangely made the bench smaller.

It turns out, if you play with the most up-to-date squads, the game weirdly limits the number of substitutes you can name to seven.
