“Fortnite Chapter 6 was too safe” – Exclusive SypherPK interview

Esports Insider spoke with Ali “SypherPK” Hassan at the Red Bull Tetris US National Final to ask the Fortnite streamer a couple of questions about what he’d like to see in Chapter 7 and where he sees his career in the future.

During the conversation, the content creator revealed his favourite games, the streamers he follows, and how it feels to partner with Red Bull. SypherPK is one of the biggest streamers in Fortnite history, so here are a few interesting highlights from our interview.

Though Fortnite added some interesting new ideas in Chapter 6, like climbing and typhoon blades, some players have argued that it wasn’t innovative enough. SypherPK echoed this sentiment during our interview, explaining that Chapter 6 has been one of Fortnite’s weaker chapters so far.

“I feel like Fortnite Chapter 6 was too safe of a chapter. There weren’t a lot of risks taken, and we saw a lot of the same concepts, but in new forms, so a lot of players, I feel like, lost interest. Overall, it was a very weak chapter for Fortnite, but even a weak chapter of Fortnite is still pretty impressive.”

SypherPK then told us that he’d like to see new mechanics introduced in Fortnite Chapter 7 that truly switch up the core gameplay. After playing tens of thousands of matches, longtime players like SypherPK are looking for something fresh to shake things up.

“I want every game of Fortnite to feel very different. You’re talking to somebody who has probably won over 10,000 games of Fortnite and has played over 30,000 matches, so I have so much experience with the game. I’m always looking for something new and exciting, and I think when they can change something about the core mechanics that make the game feel fresh, I’m all about that.”

With Fortnite Chapter 7 on the horizon, we asked SypherPK what his biggest piece of advice would be for new and existing players. He noted that a new chapter requires you to adapt to different mechanics, and those who do so first will be positioned to win.

“One piece of advice I’d give for players going into Chapter 7 is to be adaptable. Be willing to change up your playstyle and explore the map and new features for what they are, because the players who adapt quicker will end up on top.”

Esports Insider asked SypherPK if there are any streamers that he’s following in 2025, and he gave praise for the comedic style of TheBurntPeanut, a Twitch streamer with over 800,000 followers.

“I’m definitely paying attention to TheBurntPeanut, who has been really taking off on ARC Raiders; he’s a streamer. I like his style, his delivery, and he’s just very comedic and entertaining. I see him coming up right now, and he’s somebody that I’m trying to understand a little bit more about.”

Competitive League of Legends player Faker is another notable figure in the gaming space that SypherPK has been watching, particularly due to his recent victory in League of Legends Worlds 2025.

“As far as competitive players, I did just watch Faker win another championship. And even though League of Legends isn’t a game that I play or follow too closely, whenever someone is that great, you have to pay attention and try to use that as inspiration.”

As a final fun fact, SypherPK let Esports Insider know that Marvel Rivals is the best multiplayer game he’s played in 2025.

“The best game that I played in the last year from a multiplayer perspective – I’m going to say Marvel Rivals, especially the first few months. It really brought me back to that competitive shooter vibe, and I do like all the Marvel characters and that whole world, so I was really sinking a lot of hours into that game.”

Fortnite will likely be around for many years to come, so SypherPK told Esports Insider that he’d like to get more involved with Creative mode throughout the next decade.

“The next five years are going to be very pivotal for me. I’m definitely still going to be creating content in five years, but my goal over the next five years is to position myself in the space of Fortnite Creative and try to put out some great games on the platform to help Fortnite really establish itself as more than just a game, but as a platform.

“I know that’s something that they’re (Epic Games) really eager to do, and they’re in the process of doing, and I also want to be a part of that.”

Though SypherPK’s focus in Fortnite may partially shift to other areas, it looks like the popular content creator will be sticking with the game to help it reach new heights as more than just a battle royale. SypherPK is one of Fortnite’s most influential content creators, so it’ll be interesting to see what he can bring to Creative mode as we move towards 2026 and beyond.
