NTMR has won The Finals Grand Major 2025, making history as the first team to win a world championship within the esports scene.
NTMR was crowned champion of the inaugural major after winning the Finals stage, securing a lion’s share of its $100,000 (~£75,550) prize pool.
NTMR was one of 16 teams competing in DreamHack Stockholm, facing squads from around the world that had advanced through various regional closed qualifiers.
The competition was split into four different phases across two days. The winning squads of Phases One and Two would qualify for Phase Three, where the top teams compete for a place in the Finals. Only the top four teams will reach the end of the competition, where the first champion will be decided.
NTMR began its run in Phase One, where it was grouped with KINGZERO-eSports, Alliance and Vanguard Gaming. It successfully qualified after placing within the top two teams, falling just behind KINGZERO eSports.
According to the rules of the Grand Major, the four winning teams from the first phase advanced directly to Phase Three to fight for a place in the finals.
It was in Phase Three that NTMR was nearly eliminated from the tournament. After being grouped with Fnatic, ENVY and TSM, NTMR placed within the bottom two and was sent to the BO3 Elimination Zone. This was a crucial point in the competition, as the winner would move to the Finals and the loser would be knocked out. However, the organisation ultimately triumphed over TSM 2-0.
After clawing its way to the Finals, it would fight for the title against Fnatic, Spacestation Gaming, and Team Secret. The squad dominated when it mattered most, winning the first two 3v3 finals and securing a crucial fifth point by defeating Team Secret in round four.
The Grand Major Returns
Following the conclusion of the crowning event in DreamHack Stockholm, The Finals developer Embark Studios shared that the Grand Major will return for 2026.
In a post online, Embark Studios wrote: “The Grand Major 2025 would not have been possible without you, so we want to take some extra time to say thank you.
“Thank you to all the Contestants, on stage, in the audience or online, everyone that visited us at Dreamhack, and to everyone that helped make this event happen. See you at The Grand Major 2026!”
