Rainbow Six Siege X relaunches following major account breaches

Ubisoft has turned its Rainbow Six Siege X servers back online to all players after it was targeted by hacks over the weekend.

The breach caused players to receive in-game currency, experience bans, and other technical issues that resulted in the game being temporarily shut down.

The developer first acknowledged the breach on December 27th, responding by removing public access to both the game and the Marketplace. Ubisoft then disabled all R6 credit spending and rolled back all transactions made since 11:00 AM UTC that day.

Quality control tests were held on December 28th, and the game soft-launched to a small number of players following its conclusion. As of writing, Rainbow Six Siege X is open to all players, yet the Marketplace remains closed as Ubisoft continues investigations.

Ubisoft has shared that a portion of players who connected after December 27th at 10:49 AM UTC may temporarily lose access to some purchased items. Investigations and corrections will be made in the next two weeks. Players who were not active between December 27th and 29th, 2025, will see no changes.

Over the weekend, players shared online that they were given billions in R6 Credits and Renown, the game’s in-game currencies. In addition, some users had all cosmetic items unlocked for some of the best weapons in the shooter title.

Players also reported that widespread bans and unbans were being issued. Furthermore, custom messages were appearing in the ban-feed during matches, relaying messages and lyrics.

Ubisoft has since stated that the ‘ban ticker’ was disabled in a previous update, that it did not trigger any of the messages shown, and that a R6 Shield Guard ban wave did occur but was unrelated to the incident. Additionally, the developer reassured the community that it will not ban players who have spent credits.
