Live streaming platform SOOP has signed a partnership with Korean esports organisation KT Rolster (KT) for 2026 and 2027.
Announced earlier today through a post on social media, the partnership will see KT’s players stream directly through the team’s official account and their personal accounts on SOOP.
There are also plans to build a long-term collaboration, bring joint content on the platform and push the personalities and colours of the team.
With this contract, SOOP has officially signed seven of the 10 partner teams in the LCK, Korea’s professional League of Legends league. Other teams include Gen.G, Dplus KIA, DRX, BNK FearX, T1, and SOOP’s supported esports organisation, DN SOOPers.
KT Rolster, on the other hand, further strengthens its portfolio of partners, which already counts on the support of South Korea’s third-largest wireless carrier. The team is also backed by gaming hardware brand Logitech, clothing brand Millet, and information technology service TOOTHLIFE, among others.
SOOP is Taking Over Korean Esports
Previously known as AfreecaTV, the live streaming platform rebranded to SOOP in 2024. This was a few months after Amazon-owned live-streaming platform Twitch shut down in South Korea.
Despite its recent launch, the company has achieved several milestones in the esports industry, having signed with legendary League of Legends player Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok and landing a five-year broadcasting deal with the LCK alongside NAVER’s CHZZK.
Recently, the company has also announced it will unify SOOP Global and SOOP Korea under one integrated service, bringing a wider range of content with the support of an automatic AI subtitle translation function.
SOOP is also known for hosting and broadcasting esports competitions, with the most recent ones being the SOOP VALORANT League, one of the game’s off-season events, and the SOOP LoL League.
