UK esports organisation Absolved returns to the LoL esports scene

UK esports organisation Absolved has announced its return to esports, with its first venture being in the 4 Nations 2025 Summer Promotion.

The organisation has been reformed under the new ownership of Jimmy ‘SinCyn’ Knox and Brandon Pickard.

Absolved returns with the goal of being a community-driven esports organisation.

Absolved returns to esports after four years

The organisation was first founded in 2019 by TJ ‘Nudo’ Harwood and manager Robin ‘Robinho’ Cheng.

NLC Summer Finals to be held in Stockholm

The Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) has announced the location for its Summer Grand Finals as Stockholm, Sweden.

Alongside the Grand Finals, there will also be guest musical performances and an exhibition, similar to the recent Leagues Disrupt at the start of this month.

So far little has been revealed outside of the NLC Summer Finals taking place on August 30th, in Stockholm, Sweden, with tickets starting from €20 (~£17)

Caedrel reveals none of Los Ratones’ players have buy-out clauses

British League of Legends streamer Marc ‘Caedrel Lamont has said any of his Los Ratones players can leave if they want to.

The streamer created the NLC team Los Ratones at the start of the year, and they have dominated EMEA’s Tier 2 LoL scene.

Los Ratones have won two consecutive EMEA Masters and are the first UK-registered team to win the tournament.

So it’s understandable that there has been reported interest in their players, particularly jungler Veljko ‘Velja’ Čamdžić.

Riot Games allows betting sponsors for Valorant and League of Legends esports for the first time

Riot Games has announced it will allow betting sponsorships in its esports for the first time.

Tier 1 teams in both League of Legends and Valorant in EMEA and the Americas can now explore these new revenue opportunities.

That means this is limited to teams competing in the LEC, the LTA North, the LTA South, VCT EMEA, and VCT Americas.

Riot’s President of Publishing and Esports, John Needham, says this change is part of the publisher “investing in a sustainable ecosystem.”

LCK teases online limited series LOLScape: The Game

The official League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) YouTube channel has teased its latest limited content series called LOLScape: The Game.

Participants will have to try and solve the puzzles and complete the tasks to escape the Spirit Blossom-themed rooms.

The series will feature Joo ‘Duro’ Min-kyu, Lee ‘CloudTemplar’ Hyun-woo, Shin ‘Helios’ Dong-jin, Yoo Tae-yang (Horse King), and Woo Jung-ing (Friendshiping).

The series will see the five participants complete a series of challenges set in the world of League of Legends (LoL).

The Esports World Cup has announced a free-to-play fantasy league where fans can compete for big cash prizes.

The fantasy games will have a bigger prize pool than some esports tournaments, with $200k (£145k) being offered in total.

The prize money will be split between two fantasy games, though the prize allocation and grand prizes have not yet been confirmed.

Rematch announces the game’s first esports tournaments

Multiplayer football game Rematch has only been out for a week, but already has its first esports tournament set up.

Developers Sloclap, who also made Sifu, have partnered with esports event platform Toornament to host Rematch tournaments.

The tournament platform will allow community members to create and host their own competitions for the third-person football game.

ZOWIE unveils its first European Sports Science Lab

The esports-focused brand of BenQ, Zowie, has announced the establishment of its first European Sports Science Lab in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

The Sports Science Lab will act as the main lab for all European-based tournaments and players that are supported by Zowie.

As the third lab in Zowie’s global network, this new facility is said to underscore the brand’s commitment to applying sports science to esports peripheral design.

At the Zowie Sports Science Lab, they utilise motion capture and electromyography to analyse player interactions with mice, collecting data on ergonomics, joint angles, movement speed, and muscle activity.
