Virtus.pro has welcomed former Team Liquid player Jonáš ‘SaberLight‘ Volek to its Dota 2 roster.
The move comes on the heels of the player’s release from the multinational organisation, after he was relegated to the bench earlier in the year.
In the team’s announcement, Virtus.pro said: “[SaberLight] is an experienced player with a solid reputation on the international stage. Throughout his career, he has competed for TSM, Shopify Rebellion, and Team Liquid.”
Virtus.pro has struggled throughout 2025, a far cry from the Major-winning peaks it once reached in 2018/2019.
In 2025, the organisation competed across various tournaments, which included placing 16th in the Esports World Cup. Additionally, the team failed to qualify for this year’s The Internationals after experiencing an early knockout in the Western Europe Closed Qualifier.
Only time will tell whether SaberLight’s addition will result in a more successful run next season. Fans will be able to see the revamped Virtus.pro in action at DreamLeague Season 27, starting on December 10th. Interestingly, SaberLight could potentially face off against his former squad, Team Liquid.
SaberLight Leaves Team Liquid
SaberLight’s addition to Virtus.pro marks the end of his run with Team Liquid, an organisation he first joined back on September 27th, 2024.
On September 22nd, 2025, he was moved to the bench by Team Liquid as the organisation explored the ‘next chapter’ of its roster following the conclusion of The International. Two months later, SaberLight has officially parted ways with Team Liquid.
The player has recorded several achievements during his tenure with Team Liquid. In 2025, he contributed to the team winning PGL Wallachia Season 4 and 3, which secured the organisation $300,000 (~£228,420) each. The player also recently placed third in Season 6 after losing to MOUZ.
SaberLight has also competed in various major tournaments, including placing eighth in the Esports World Cup. Additionally, he competed for Team Liquid in this year’s The Internationals, the crowning event of the competitive season, placing 12th overall.
