North American organisation ENVY has announced that it will be pausing its esports operations in Marvel Rivals.
ENVY has become the latest team to leave the scene as the future of Marvel Rivals esports remains shrouded in uncertainty.
In a statement online, ENVY wrote: “Today, we’re announcing that we will be pausing our competitive operations in Marvel Rivals.
“We’re incredibly proud of the effort and passion our roster brought to the game, and grateful for what we were able to build together during our time in the scene.”
The organisation added that all of its players are free to ‘explore new opportunities’ with other teams in the scene. Since the announcement, several of its former players have shared that they are looking for new teams to sign with.
ENVY stated that it hopes to return to Marvel Rivals in the future as the ‘competitive ecosystem develops’.
The pause in operations ends ENVY’s 2025 run in Marvel Rivals, a season that has seen the organisation record a mixture of highs and lows. From winning The Shroud Gauntlet, to placing runner-up in the Mid-Season Finals, the team had established itself as a staple in the scene.
Uncertainty For Marvel Rivals Esports Future
ENVY has become the latest team to leave the scene since the conclusion of the Marvel Rivals Ignite Grand Finals, the crowning event of the game’s first esports circuit. Earlier this month, fellow Americas competitor and Ignite Stage 1 champion Sentinels announced that it was also pausing Marvel Rivals esports operations.
While other teams like Citadel Gaming have shared their commitment to Marvel Rivals, the lack of communication from the developers NetEase Games has caused some organisations to question the future of the scene.
Some players have come forward to voice their frustration with how the developers are running the scene, sharing that there isn’t enough financial incentive for teams to stay for the long term.
