League of Legends’ new game mode Brawl released to mixed response

Following the success of the Arena game mode, Riot Games has continued to develop new modes for its flagship title, League of Legends (LoL).

Brawl is the latest in this rotating list of featured game modes, replacing the third iteration of the much-loved Arena game mode.

The newest game mode was released with the recent LoL Patch 25.10. Arena was designed to be a quick match where teams of five battle over a small area, killing each other and pushing minions into the enemy base to win.

Valve responds to Steam data breach that claimed to affect 89 million accounts

Valve has released an official statement confirming that a recent data leak did not breach Steam accounts and users will not need to change passwords or phone numbers for their PC gaming accounts.

Rumours were spreading after a LinkedIn post on May 10th reported that a user on a well-known dark web forum was claiming to have found a vulnerability in Steam and had access to data of over 89 million accounts which they were offering to sell for $5k (£3.8k).

Blast confirm Dota 2 event in Singapore after sellout success for Counter-Strike last year

Esports is set to return to Singapore in 2025 after Blast confirmed that there will be a Blast Dota Slam Singapore event in November 2025.

The tournament will take place between November 4th-9th at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, following the success of last year’s sellout Blast Premier World Final for Counter-Strike.

The world’s best Dota teams will meet in Singapore to compete for a $1m (£750,000) prize pool. The event is organised by esports entertainment company Blast, in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and AEG Presents Asia.

UK esports organisation EXO Clan announce surprise closure as CEO disappears

On Monday, May 12th 2025, UK-based EXO Clan announced the organisation’s closure on social media.

Initially, fans came out in support, thanking the team for everything they’ve done in esports. The team has recently competed in Apex Legends and Valorant esports tournaments just a few months ago. 

However, it was later revealed by the former owner and founder of EXO Clan, Kris ‘Exodus’ Partell, that they were unaware of any plans to shut down EXO Clan.

Global Esports Industry Week unveiled with the event set to debut next month

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC), tournament organiser BLAST, and The Esports Radar have announced the Global Esports Industry Week 2025.

It will debut in Austin, Texas, from June 18-22nd, 2025, and will coincide with the Blast.tv Austin Major for Counter-Strike.

The esports business event will feature executive forums, summits, experiential gatherings, and networking socials, designed to foster collaboration amongst industry stakeholders.

It aims to provide a platform for publishers, tournament organisers, teams, investors, regulators, and tech providers to drive growth in the rapidly expanding global esports landscape.

PUBG: Battlegrounds latest update features destructible terrain on Taego map

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has launched its official update 35.2 on PC, with the update set to be released on consoles from May 22nd.

The update has many new features that will excite players including bringing destructible terrain to the Taego map for the first time.

The news comes a couple of months after PUBG announced a new 5v5 team title, Blindspot, in February.

A new Counter-Strike 2 global tournament will offer players the chance to compete for a massive $1,000,000 (£750,000) prize pool.

The new Global Domination: Invasion esports tournament was announced today by the Ultimate Gaming Championships (UGC) and Global Domination Events (GDE).

It promises to bring together everyone from bedroom gamers to seasoned Counter-Strike esports pros in a battle for cash and glory.

The tournament kicks off next month with online regional tournaments on June 17th, across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

The biggest change in League of Legends history? LoL is introducing WASD movement

Riot Games has silently dropped a huge change to League of Legends’ control scheme, which could completely revolutionise the game which has been out for almost 16 years.

As revealed by British content creator Skin Spotlights, there is now an option to set up WASD movement in the game on the PBE server.

In this mode, of course, players will use the W, S, A, and D keys to move up, down, left, and right like on the d-pad of a console controller.

Team Heretics jungler Théo ‘Sheo’ Borile is not holding back on social media after qualifying for the LEC Spring 2025 Playoffs.

He and Heretics had to defeat Team Vitality in a tense tiebreaker to decide the sixth and final participant in the upcoming League of Legends knockout bracket to decide EMEA’s Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) representatives.

And to celebrate, Sheo has pulled out receipts of those who doubted the young roster.
