Fnatic finalises line-up for Esports World Cup

London-based esports organisation, Fnatic, finalises its full list of squads that will compete at this year’s Esports World Cup (EWC).

The British esports organisation will send a total of eight rosters to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this year to compete at the event.

The full list includes its main rosters in Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Valorant.

Fnatic has also announced new rosters in Teamfight Tactics and Warzone to compete at the EWC 2025. 

The esports organisation is also listed to compete in Street Fighter 6 at the EWC, through qualifier tournaments leading up to the event.

Irish esports organisation Wylde to compete in Valorant Glitched Invitational tournament

Glitched has partnered with Riot Games to launch the Valorant Glitched Invitational, with Irish esports organisation Wylde one of eight teams set to take part.

The tournament will take place at the inaugural Swedish Esports and Gaming Festival in Jonkoping, Sweden, from June 13th to 16th, 2025

This event aims to bolster the Nordic esports scene, with strong representation from the region.

Wylde, based in Cork, Ireland, is the sole non-Nordic team in the lineup.

Kojima Productions to visit London as part of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach tour

Kojima Productions has announced that London will be the fifth stop on its Death Stranding World Strand Tour 2.

The tour will celebrate the launch of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which is set to release exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025.

It will begin in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, and will stop in Sydney, Tokyo and Paris before coming over to London.

It will bring UK fans a chance to join special events and meet notable guests on Monday, June 30th, 2025.

Team Vitality acquires Bigetron Esports to form SEA mobile esports division ahead of Esports World Cup

Team Vitality have announced the acquisition of Bigetron Esports who will act as a mobile gaming division for the organisation under the name ‘Bigetron by Vitality’.

The merger sees the Bigetron’s rosters for Free Fire, Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile (PUBGM), and both mens and womens teams in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) now playing under this new umbrella.

However, at this year’s record-breaking $70m (£52.7m) Esports World Cup the teams will compete solely under Team Vitality’s name.

Hinchley Wood School recently won the 2025 national Digital Schoolhouse Splatoon 3 esports finals in London, but outside of the competitive matches, there were other student winners too. 

In Digital Schoolhouse’s ongoing bid to promote skills and careers in video games and esports, it also held a creative careers competition for students. One of the winners, Adhrit from Langley Grammar School, was selected as Best Journalist by Esports News UK, for this piece below, all about his recent visit to RLCS Birmingham.

Streaming platform Soop allows players to co-stream LCK matches for the 2025 season

Streaming platform Soop has unveiled a new initiative allowing select League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) players to co-stream matches starting with the second round of the 2025 season.

Under the agreement, LCK teams with exclusive streaming contracts with Soop can broadcast matches on their own channels.

Reports indicate that prominent organisations such as DRX, Gen.G, T1 and DN Freecs are among those to secure streaming deals with Soop.

This enables players like Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok (T1), Jung ‘Chovy’ Ji-hoon (Gen.G) and Park ‘Ruler’ Jae-hyuk (DRX) to co-stream live matches – engaging with fans worldwide including in the United Kingdom.

Gen.G create Marvel Rivals esports super team

Gen.G have fully committed to Marvel Rivals esports in a big way by combining the rosters of the top two teams in Asia to form what some would call a ‘super team’.

A lot of esports organisations will be looking at the game’s competitive scene after the announcement of the Marvel Rivals Ignite tournament with a prize pool of over $3m (£2.3m).

The organisation had previously dipped its toes in the water by fielding a roster under the banner of “Gen.G Academy” in Season 1 of the Marvel Rivals Championship (MRC) in Asia.

Tundra Esports receive invite for Dota 2 tournament The International 2025

London-based Dota 2 team Tundra Esports has earned a direct invite to The International 2025, set to take place in September.

Tundra is one of eight teams revealed by Valve to take part in the largest Dota 2 tournament in the game’s esports calendar.

Reacting to the news on X, Tundra tweeted: “We’re honoured to be invited to TI. Battling it out with the best for the Aegis once more. We’ll see you in Hamburg!”

They are joined by other top-tier teams, including former champions Team Liquid and Team Spirit.
