British Esports gets nomination for National Education Innovation Award

The National Esports Federation has made the shortlist for an Edufuturists Award, which recognises the development of an academic pathway in esports.

British Esports, the UK’s national esports body, has been nominated for Most innovative Education Project at the Edufuturists Awards, which honour key contributions to the future of education.

The awards are held annually and spotlight individuals and organisations advancing education through forward-thinking approaches. This year’s ceremony will be held at 53two in Manchester on June 26th.

After eight years of development, community mod project ‘Classic Offensive’ has shut down with Valve issuing a cease and desist just hours before launch.

Classic Offensive was a community-led idea that had developers remaster some of the best elements off the original Counter-Strike game.

Valve initially allowed developers to run the project when it was proposed in 2017 but after eight years of work they have done a complete U-turn and called a halt to the idea.

British Twitch streaming superstar and new Red Bull athlete Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont believes there’s a chance his League of Legends team, Los Ratones, may not exist come the end of the year.

Caedrel has previously stated that the team won’t be paying €20m for an LEC spot and had previously talked about moving regions.

While reacting to the news of serious workplace allegations against the LEC’s Movistar Koi, Caedrel said “losing Ibai would be a horror” for LoL’s esports scene.

G2 Hel, the sister League of Legends team to G2 Esports in the LEC, have earned promotion to Liga Nexo, making them the first all-female team to compete in the league.

In fact, as confirmed by journalist Rigas, G2 Hel are the first all-female team to earn promotion into Tier 2 of a European Regional League (ERL). The roster of toplaner “Zeniv”, jungler Marta Mesas “Shiina” Garrido, midlaner Rym “Rym” Salloum, botlaner Maya “Caltys” Henckel, and support Ève “Colomblbl” Monvoisin are now all history-makers.

For the first time ever an esports league has been created for the UK Armed Forces

The British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) has launched a first of its kind esports league exclusively for members of the UK Armed Forces.

The league will launch in June, with players looking to take part in the event going through tournament qualifiers until the end of July before an in-person Grand Final to wrap things up in September.

Team Vitality have welcomed British sports and exercise psychologist Edgar “Psych-Chek” Chekera as the team’s new performance coach ahead of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) EMEA Stage 1 Playoffs.

Psych-Chek is a vastly experienced mental performance coach in esports, having worked with Guild Esports, Giantx, Fnatic, Falcon Esports, Manchester City esports/City Football Group and Global Esports.

The partnership will see Jimmy Broadbent use and promote GT Omega’s various sim racing accessories. Likewise, the brand will support the content creator in his endeavours as a sim racing content creator and racing driver.

Broadbent and GT Omega have also hinted at exciting new projects together, which have been teased to be revealed later this year.
